class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>Settings of Films<\/h2><p>Thanks of the big beauty and attractive of \u00dabeda and Baeza and the perfect building maintenance of its historic city centre, similar to the XV and XVI centuries, the streets of \u00dabeda and Baeza have been the main character of the filming in some of the most popular period films as\u00a0<em>Alatriste<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>\u00a0<\/em><em>La\u00a0Conjura de El Escorial.<\/em><\/p><h3>Alatriste (2006)<\/h3><p>Directed by Agust\u00edn D\u00edaz Yanes, starring Viggo Mortensen and based on the main character of Las aventuras del capit\u00e1n Alatriste, a book of Arturo P\u00e9rez-Reverte, Alatriste is the second more expensive film of the Spanish cinema history. Apart from \u00dabeda and Baeza, the film was recorded also in El \u00c1lamo (Madrid), in Ucl\u00e9s (Cuenca), in Sevilla, in Santiponce (Sevilla), in C\u00e1diz, in Conil de la Frontera (C\u00e1diz) and in Tarifa.<\/p><p>In \u00dabeda, most of the shots taken were made in the spectacular enclave of the\u00a0V\u00e1zquez de Molina Square\u00a0and in some of its buildings as the\u00a0Palace V\u00e1zquez de Molina, concretely on the Local Record office, place where Alatriste used to meet with the Count-Duke de Olivares. These location shots were also used to film other scenes, specially they were used to recreate the exit of the tavern used by Alatriste.<\/p><p>The beautiful Gothic cloister of the\u00a0Collegiate Church fo Saint Mary of the Royal Fortresses\u00a0was used as setting of the duel between Alatriste and Malatesta and \u00cd\u00f1igo Balboa. In addition, this was the place where I\u00f1igo was waiting for Ang\u00e9lica in vain. At the corner of the Sacred Chapel of The Saviour, the main character also fight a duel with his implacable rival.Equally, the Santo Domingo Square was the setting chosen for one of the most intense duels of the film, this one where I\u00f1igo Balboa fights against Gualterio Malatesta.<\/p><p>Baeza was also the place where some of the most important sward duels of the film took place. These were filmed in the Alta, Can\u00f3nigo Melgares Raya, Romero Meng\u00edbar, Cobertizo, Sacramento, Laza de Santa Cruz, Cuesta de San Felipe Neri streets and in the\u00a0Saint Mary Square.<\/p><p>Some of the most wonderful buildings played the lead in the most beautiful scenes of the film, such as the staircase of the\u00a0Palace of Jabalquinto, the Juan de \u00c1vila street, where a popular market was recreated, the\u00a0Cathedral, where a scene with Mar\u00eda de Castro was filmed on its stairs or the\u00a0Former University.<\/p><h3>La Conjura del Escorial (2006)<\/h3><p>Directed by Antonio del Real and starring, among others, Julia Ormond, Jordi Moll\u00e0, Concha Cuetos and Juanjo Puigcorb\u00e9. This blockbuster, set in the XVI century, has been filmed also in Germany and Portugal.<\/p><p>The film shows the fights to get the power between the Alba Family and the Mendoza Family. Concretely, it reconstruct the conspiracy to kill the secretary of Don John of Austria. According to the history, in this incident the king Philip II himself was involved, who was forced to act due to his secretary Antonio P\u00e9rez and Ana de Mendoza, the Princess of \u00c9boli.<\/p><p>In \u00dabeda, the\u00a0V\u00e1zquez de Molina Square\u00a0was transformed into the chosen setting to recreate the power of the nobility in the Spain of the Philip II.\u00a0This place would be also the witness of one of the key moments of the film: the detention of the Princess of \u00c9boli, character played by the actress Julia Ormond.<\/p><p>In Baeza, the surroundings of the\u00a0Cathedral\u00a0and these of the\u00a0Palace of Jabalquinto\u00a0were some of the settings chosen to represent different period scenes.<\/p><p><strong>Nevertheless, other productions were filmed either in \u00dabeda or in Baeza.<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00dabeda was the city chosen to record some scenes of the film\u00a0<em>El monumento\u00a0<\/em>(&#8220;The monument&#8221; with Anal\u00eda Gad\u00e9),\u00a0<em>El hombre que supo amar\u00a0<\/em>(&#8220;The man who knew how to love&#8221; with Paco Valladares),\u00a0<em>Sonata de primavera<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>(&#8220;Spring sonata&#8221; with Manuel Alexandre) or the TV series\u00a0<em>El P\u00edcaro<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>(&#8220;The Rascal&#8221; withFernando Fern\u00e1n G\u00f3mez).<\/p><p>On its behalf, in Baeza some of the scenes of the film\u00a0<em>Teresa de Jes\u00fas\u00a0<\/em>were recorded (with Concha Velasco), the popular series of\u00a0<em>Curro Jim\u00e9nez<\/em>, the miniseries of the channel Antena3\u00a0<em>La Princesa de \u00c9boli\u00a0<\/em>(with Bel\u00e9n Rueda) and the comedy\u00a0<em>Rosa y negro\u00a0<\/em>(G\u00e9rard Jugnot and Juan
